Utilizing that buzz as a catapult, Santa Clara have been gigging consistently over the past few months, playing stages between BC & ON, & ultimately proving they are not simply a studio group, but a fraternity of energetic performers, whatever the live setting.
Embracing the technology of our times, their brazen business plan is to
release one tasty single at a time for digital sale, using handy download cards to help promote the band, while taking full advantage of social media networks and popular music websites.
It's a faithful DIY indie motto that has them climbing the charts and gaining fans every day.
It wasn't long ago that SC frontman Timothy Langley appeared on stage with Victoria’s Christine Evans. But it unknowingly proved fortuitous & fate, as Tim met & played w/ future SC guitarist Brandon Foreman, touring cross-Canada with CE. From Victoria through Edmonton, Winnipeg to Toronto, Santa Clara's embryonic journey began to take shape, as its two principal singer-songwriters engaged in espresso energized jams, one hotel room after another. Their friendship and collaboration became cemented, giving birth to Santa Clara, with a long range vision and a purpose.
Following Santa Clara's recent fiery showcase during CMW2010, "Save Me" ignites the next exciting chapter @ Canadian Radio, Monday, April 12th!
Timothy Langley appeared on the stage with Victoria’s pop sensation Christine Evans where he met Brandon Foreman when they were hired to back Christine Evans for her 2006 cross-Canada tour. From Victoria through Edmonton, Winnipeg to Toronto. Santa Clara began with the meeting of these two singer songwriters. Espresso energized jams in hotel rooms, started a friendship and collaboration that has fueled Santa Clara with vision and purpose.
Brandon began his career in Montreal in 1989 as a singer songwriter and went on to share stages with BNL, Bootsy Colins, 54-40, Papa Wemba, and more with his brand of World Pop in various incarnations of critically acclaimed bands Maisha and Yellowbelly before retiring to raise his family. He was seduced back into full time touring when approached by Christine Evans. Receiving nominations and songwriting awards such as Western Canadian Music Award for Best Pop/Dance Album and holding the number 1 indie position for 6 weeks in Vancouver, Brandon is a pop force to be reckoned with.
Give Santa Clara a chance and they’ll weave a tale about St Claire of Assisi and then fly you to a small street in Victoria where Tim Langley spent much of his youth, but the music is honest, infectious, soulful, unabashedly poppy and always entertaining with keen insight into the wonder of life and the brighter side. They’ll walk you down a busy city street filled with neon and metropolitan culture and point out the best Coffee House making you feel at home in any city. They’re music is hopeful yet aware of the sometimes difficult reality we live in. It’s a characteristic that runs deep in their life philosophy. With a tasty blend of honest lyrics, and hooky riffs, Santa Clara demonstrates a high caliber of musicianship that will garner much attention in Canada’s music scene. This project is a compilation of life, music, emotions and stories written because a boy grew up in a cottage on Santa Clara Ave. Who we are, and what we will be, has everything to do with where we came from.
